Description
There are two ways of honouring the final studio album by a great band. You can either mope, weep over the good old days and feel sorry for yourself because a great era has irrevocably come to an end. Alternatively, you can opt for the Victory approach: the rock group from Hanover don’t pity themselves but instead have come up with a real power pack full of brand-new songs to bid their fans, the media and the public farewell in style. Don´t Talk Science, or you could say: don’t make things too complicated – that’s the title and credo of the current album which marks the end of a long and highly successful career. The release features a total of 13 tracks: eleven haunting Victory compositions plus two cover tracks which were rearranged and tailored perfectly to the band’s style. “We’ve come full circle with Don’t Talk Science,” says Tommy Newton, one of the band’s two guitarists and, together with his colleague, Herman Frank, one of Victory’s main composers. “We’ve recorded what our fans have always liked best about us, i.e. straightforward rock ’n’ roll which sounds neither typically German nor typically English but has a multicultural style.” Which doesn’t really come as any surprise, seeing that in their heyday, Victory featured an American vocalist (Charly Huhn), a New York management company and celebrated major success mainly on the US market.
